DTRA sponsors development of equipment and software tools to fill identified gaps in chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense capabilities. To ensure that these technologies will meet Department of Defense needs in the field, DTRA sought help to produce demonstrations giving warfighters the opportunity to try out fledgling equipment and tools and provide feedback to shape further development.

End User Engagement and Feedback Assessment
2015 through 2020, 2022 through 2024
Intreped Partners provided CBRN preparedness and response subject matter experts to advise on program elements and to plan, execute, assess, and report on Advanced Technology Demonstrations. We designed field scenarios, coordinated logistics, developed assessment methodologies, and worked with warfighters from all the Services to arrange for representatives to participate. Intreped engaged with warfighters to gather end-user feedback on developmental technology effectiveness and suitability in increasing accuracy, reducing time, and informing decision making. We relied on our expertise and experience often in “translating” between technology developers and field operators.
Intreped’s detailed reports with end-user recommendations helped DTRA determine the future of 74 different developmental technologies. Some technologies were no longer funded while more viable projects advanced to further development and eventual fielding. The CBRN defense technologies moving forward will make warfighters more effective in defending our Nation.
