Chemical Hazards Emergency Medical Management (CHEMM) is a vital online resource offering medical guidance for managing chemical exposure casualties. First responders, first receivers, emergency departments, and toxicologists rely on CHEMM for fast, accurate information during high-stress events. However, CHEMM has not kept pace with modern response needs and technology. Its sponsor, the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) sought a comprehensive overhaul with updated content, improved usability, and expanded outreach to better serve the emergency medical community.

End User Engagement and Feedback Assessment
2024 to 2026
Intreped is combining our deep expertise in military and civilian chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN), HazMat, and medical response with robust stakeholder engagement to assist BARDA in reinvigorating and modernizing the CHEMM resource. We are leading the content refresh to improve guidance on symptom-based triage, chemical-specific treatment protocols, decontamination, and patient transport. At the heart of our approach is real-world user feedback: Intreped is designing, facilitating, and analyzing a series of end-user engagement events and workshops with emergency medical service, emergency medicine, toxicology, and public health professionals to validate and refine CHEMM’s new direction. We are developing evaluation tools to ensure feedback is consistently captured and applied in iterative updates. Finally, we’re building visibility through a comprehensive outreach campaign—creating videos, social media content, and stakeholder communications to promote CHEMM as a must-have frontline tool during emergencies and training exercises.
Intreped’s modernization efforts are transforming CHEMM into a streamlined, intuitive, and trusted resource for emergency medical professionals. Our stakeholder-driven approach ensures the platform aligns with real-world needs, enhancing the speed and confidence of chemical casualty response. As updates continue through 2026, CHEMM is evolving into a modernized hub for critical decision-making during chemical events—ensuring responders and receivers have the right information, right when they need it.
