As a combat support agency, DTRA requires chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) subject matter experts who are on call 24/7/365 to advise operational field teams in real time during deliberate and crisis planning, exercises, real-world missions, and post-event analyses.

Intreped Partners geospatial experts, chemists, and virologists advise operational teams on technical characteristics of CBRN agents, weaponization methods, adverse health effects, protective measures, detection and identification capabilities, and airborne hazard plume modeling. We also conduct risk assessments and create health communications to support planning, prevention, response, and recovery activities. For example, Intreped conducted extensive disease modeling and provided products for the epidemiological spread of COVID-19 in the U.S., cholera in Haiti, and dengue fever in Brazil, Argentina, and Columbia for interagency planning. We also developed a Geospatial Knowledge Management Portal in Esri Enterprise and developed and implemented a strategic plan to provide interactive tools on the DTRA Enterprise GIS system.
As a direct result of Intreped’s efforts, DTRA’s leadership and operational teams were able to make more informed decisions and respond more quickly in emergency situations. Ultimately, these Intreped products inform and enable national-level decision making.
